- Manchester holds the record for the driest place on Earth. There are some districts where it hasn't rained for over 30 years.

- One end of the original channel tunnel emerges into Boggart Hole Clough. (The tunnel was abandoned due to a miscalculation during construction. The other end is situated in Liechtenstein.)

- Use a ladder to sneak into the Strangeways Holiday Camp and you can use the facilities free of charge.
- Parking is both free and readily available at any roadside.
